The Choralies

Every three years, Vaison-la-Romaine hosts the famous‘Choralies’. THE event for choral singing, offering a mix of new discoveries and highlights for all lovers of music and singing! A lively, vibrant and deeply human experience, where amateurs and professionals come together to celebrate the art of singing, where the magic of song blends with the magic of the landscapes of Vaison Ventoux Provence… Organised by the ‘À Cœur Joie’ association, the festival looks forward to welcoming you to the next edition from 26 July to 3 August 2028!

Sing, listen and soak it all in A unique atmosphere

Vaison-la-Romaine is transforming into a veritable capital of choral singing with the arrival of the Choralies, an international festival that attracts enthusiasts from all over the world.

With its exceptional setting and friendly atmosphere, the Choralies offer an unforgettable immersion in the heart of Provençal music, culture and nature.

Singers, choir directors, composers and choral music enthusiasts come together to share their love of music through concerts, workshops and other events organised during the festival.

In the evenings, the Ancient Theatre opens its doors to festival-goers and the public for some exceptional concerts!

Musical notes set the pace of each day

In the mornings, participants take part in workshops to form pop-up choirs, under the guidance of internationally renowned choir directors. Lasting between 1 and 8 days, these workshops represent the largest choral training programme in France. Open to all levels, from beginners to experienced choristers, they cover a wide range of musical styles, all in a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere.

In the afternoon, various concert venues across the city host numerous choirs from France and all corners of the world, creating an exceptional choral scene. Talks and meetings are also organised, offering choristers the opportunity to discuss topics of interest to them.

In the evening, everyone gathers in the heart of the majestic Ancient Theatre to be swept away by the concerts… The Ancient Theatre of Vaison-la-Romaine, a true jewel of the local heritage, becomes, for the occasion, a magnificent stage where the spellbinding voices of the choristers resound, in a historic setting that enhances every note. This fusion of music and heritage is what makes the festival so unique, further enhancing the emotion felt by the audience.

Diversity at the heart of the Choralies and in Vaison Ventoux Provence

Whether drawing on the classical, contemporary or folk repertoire, each group brings its own unique flavour to this vibrant musical mosaic.

The programme is just as varied, featuring open-air concerts in the city’s iconic venues, performances in churches and in picturesque alleyways. Some groups also put on performances in the villages of Vaison Ventoux Provence.

Les Choralies go beyond music. This festival offers a unique opportunity to share cultural and human experiences. Participants have the chance to exchange ideas, forge bonds and create unforgettable memories. Les Choralies are also synonymous with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Throughout the festival, the streets of Vaison-la-Romaine and its surrounding villages come alive with encounters and moments of shared enjoyment.
