The BD AOC festival

Every year, comic book fans gather in Vaison Ventoux Provence for a long-awaited event: the BD AOC Festival. This not-to-be-missed event combines art, culture and a passion for comics in a picturesque setting at the foot of Mont Ventoux. We invite you to explore the enchanting world of this festival!

For comic book fans Rendezvous in Villedieu

Organized by theBD AOC association for over a decade in Vaison-la-Romaine, the festival took a major turn in 2023, extending for the first time to the 3 charming villages of the Toulourenc valley: Brantes, Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux and Savoillans. For its 13th edition, the festival will be held from September 13 to 15 in the village of Villedieu, where the festive spirit is rooted in its DNA.

A comics festival For all ages

This event, chaired by Jean Dufaux, multi-award-winning Belgian scriptwriter with hundreds of albums to his credit, spotlights both emerging artists and established comics legends. This year, over thirty renowned authors dedicated to all audiences (youth, adult, manga, comics…) will be present, including: Grzegorz Rosinski, Enrico Marini, Ana Miralles, Jeremy, Olivier Grenson, Jacques Terpant, Ruben Pellejero…

Jacques Chupin, one of the last copper engravers, will create an exclusive engraving for the festival, while Xavier René will create an original and exclusive illustration for Villedieu.

This event highlights both emerging artists and established industry legends. For several days, Vaison Ventoux Provence is transformed into a veritable paradise for comics fans, offering a myriad of activities and events for all ages and tastes. Signing sessions, conferences, round tables, exhibitions, a treasure hunt or a hike along the “Chemin des chapelles en pays Ventoux” will give you the chance to chat with your favorite authors and illustrators, and immerse yourself in the world of comics! A comics festival To the values of Provence

The educational aspect is also at the heart of the BD AOC Festival. You have the opportunity to go behind the scenes of creation during meetings with artists, learn more about the history of comics at fascinating exhibitions and even take part in hands-on workshops to develop their own artistic talents.

Last but not least, the festival would not be complete without moments of conviviality and sharing. Festive evenings, tastings of local produce and informal meetings between enthusiasts create a warm atmosphere, where bonds are forged around a shared passion for comics.

The BD AOC Festival in Vaison Ventoux Provence is much more than just a cultural event. It’s an immersive, educational and entertaining experience that leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all those lucky enough to take part.
