1/ Trail shoes: your best ally
Your choice of shoes is crucial. They must offer excellent support and grip. Crampon soles adapted to different types of terrain (pebbles, mud, roots) are recommended.
2/ The backpack or hydration vest
A lightweight, ergonomic, well-fitting pack is essential for carrying your essentials. Choose a bag with integrated pockets for soft flasks or a water pouch. Include compartments for energy bars, dried fruit, windbreaker and telephone.
3/ Technical clothing
Equip yourself with clothing suited to the weather conditions and the duration of your outing. A breathable T-shirt, shorts or stretchy tights, a windbreaker or waterproof jacket (essential in rainy or windy conditions, especially in the mountains!) and anti-blister socks.
4/ Essential accessories
- GPS watch: to track your performance and route in real time.
- Trail poles: These can be very useful, and are almost indispensable on routes with steep gradients.
- Cap or headband and sunglasses: Protect yourself from the sun!
- Headlamp: Indispensable for early-morning or evening outings, or on long runs.
5/ First-aid kit: Never leave home without these essentials!
- First-aid kit: Includes bandages, antiseptic and compresses.
- Survival blanket: Useful in the event of a fall or extreme fatigue.
- Cell phone: Charged and protected in a waterproof pouch.
- Map and compass: To complement your GPS watch, especially on less well-marked trails.
