Our mountain villages

Vaison Ventoux Provence is home to a number of typical mountain villages on the northern slopes of Mont Ventoux. These three villages are the starting points for numerous hikes, notably along the “Canyon Provençal”.

1. Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux

A little corner of unspoilt paradise lies here, in the smallest village in the Vaucluse, nestled on the northern flank of the Géant de Provence. The former papal dependency enchants with its houses nestling against the Bluye mountain. The old clock and the fountain with its oval washhouse add charm to the place.

Saint-Léger church, simple on the outside, reveals an interior adorned with picturesque 19th-century paintings. The Saint-Basile chapel, once a place of pilgrimage, offers a peaceful view of the Toulourenc river.

Climbing enthusiasts will be drawn to the Baleine cliff, while hikers can explore the many footpaths. Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux, bathed in sunshine and rich in natural springs, is a true paradise for nature and adventure lovers.

2. Brantes

Brantes is an unspoilt jewel of Provence, with its cobbled streets and walls steeped in history.

This old fortified village, suspended above the Toulourenc Valley, is reminiscent of Provencal cribs. Narrow cobbled streets lead to vaulted passageways that add authentic charm to the village. Views of the valley and Mont Ventoux are breathtaking from every corner.

The former Pénitents chapel hosts annual exhibitions, while the Eglise Saint-Sidoine unveils artistic treasures. The ruins of the medieval château also offer a backdrop steeped in history.

3. Savoillans

A peaceful little village nestled between mountains and meadows, Savoillans is an invitation to relax and discover.

The church of Saint-Agricol, with its elegant bell tower, and the stone washhouse, fed by the springs of Mont-Ventoux, captivate on arrival.

When in season, the village boasts vast expanses of lavender and spelt, providing a visual and olfactory spectacle.

Starting out from the village, an Art et Nature trail leads to the Ventoux forest, making for a wonderful family day out in harmony with nature.
