A Templar village

To explore this charming village, let yourself be tempted by adventure as you leave the road and enter this place steeped in history, where every corner echoes with echoes of the past. This Templar stronghold, linked to la Commanderie de Roaix, invites you to wander through its shady lanes, where the scents of yesteryear mingle with the fresh air.

The parish church of Romanesque origin was known as Notre-Dame-del-Bois. Restored and modified on several occasions, it still boasts a 12th-century bell-tower today.

Take time to relax on Place Verdun, in the heart of the village, near the magnificent fountain and its imposing lavoir.

As you follow the sentry walk, be dazzled by the surprising view over the Aygues valley. Admire the village ramparts, built with pebbles from the Aygues and restored after the many battles that took place during the Wars of Religion. Take time to appreciate the charm of the belfry, with its wrought iron clock and bell tower.

Extend your exploration by taking the many hiking trails that run through the 165 hectares of communal forest, a real invitation to discover the preserved nature.

As you stroll along, don’t miss the chapels Saint-Pierre and Notre-Dame-d’Argelier located outside the village. Buisson offers the authenticity of a Provencal village, where time seems to have stood still to better immerse you in its timeless charm.

Landmarks in the village :

Village secret:

In the 16th century, during the Wars of Religion, Buisson was attacked several times and destroyed in 1588 by Protestants from Nyons. They invaded the village and stole the church bell, which was not returned until a hundred years later following numerous lawsuits.
