Our wine villages

The winemaking tradition is at the heart of village life in Vaison Ventoux Provence, where history and terroir combine to offer an authentic experience. Some of our villages bear the heritage of a long winemaking tradition, lending a unique and enchanting atmosphere to the cobbled streets and shady squares.

1. Cairanne

Perched on a promontory amidst the vineyards, Cairanne offers panoramic views from its old village. Narrow streets, calades and ramparts bear witness to its thousand-year-old history.

Cairanne’s three towers, a legacy of the Templar Commandery, and the parish church of Saint-André blend Romanesque and Gothic styles. The chapels of Notre-Dame des Excès and Saint-Geniès invite contemplation. The chapel of Notre-Dame-de-la-Vigne-et-du-Rosaire, near the Belvédère, dazzles with its remarkable stained-glass windows.

Cairanne blends history and wine tourism, and charms with its picture-postcard landscapes. Hiking trails, notably the GR4, offer the opportunity to marvel at the panoramic views over the vineyards and the Dentelles de Montmirail.

2. Rasteau

A medieval village bathed in sunshine and its famous vineyards, Rasteau exudes timeless charm and a rich history.

The central square, l’Apparent, is surrounded by plane trees, where local life follows the rhythm of the seasons and the various events organized by the village associations.

The ramparts surround the village, where stone houses, fountains and a period washhouse bear witness to a rich past. The highest point, the church, offers magnificent views of the vineyards, the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux.

Numerous footpaths criss-cross the surrounding countryside, including the panoramic wine trail where the Rasteau appellation, Cru des Côtes du Rhône, is revealed.

3. Sablet

An authentic Provencal village at the foot of the majestic Dentelles de Montmirail, Sablet offers a lively picture of houses with warm facades entwined around the church, preserving its timeless charm.

The fortified enclosure and its soustets, the Place Yvan Audouard with its fountain and washhouse, are just some of the places to discover.

The church of Saint-Nazaire, dominated by its imposing bell tower, is the ideal place for a peaceful stopover.

At the entrance to the village are the chapels of Saint-Roch and Saint-Nazaire, erected in recognition of the saint who is said to have spared the villagers from the Great Plague.

4. Séguret

Séguret, one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages”, is set against the backdrop of the Dentelles de Montmirail.

Its cobbled streets, fountains and the remains of medieval fortifications such as the Porte Reynier and Porte des Huguenots tell the story of a thousand years of history.

Séguret also boasts a communal oven, a reminder of the daily life of its inhabitants in days gone by. It is occasionally rekindled to the delight of the local population.

The Romanesque church of Saint-Denis offers a magnificent view of the valley and the Dentelles, the perfect opportunity to pause and contemplate the landscape. The Place des Arceaux, lined with remarkable trees, invites you to relax.
