Program Festival Vaison Danses #2024

  • In "Nomad", Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui reconstructs a mosaic of animate and inanimate desert elements.
The dancers give you a glimpse of the fluidity and adaptability of the creatures that thrive in the harshest conditions; but also the beauty of the dunes, the winds that change direction... And finally, everything that makes it possible to survive in an arid world that would be unliveable alone: conviviality and friendship.

"Soul Chain" by Sharon Eyal Tanzmainz
  • Inspired by strong emotions linked to love, "Soul Chain" combines ballet and electro in an exciting contemporary dance performance. The ensemble of 17 dancers becomes a swarm full of energy, in an extremely demanding choreography. Although multi-award-winning choreographer Sharon Eyal says her piece is about love and desire, the romance gives way to pure, animal movements, through which all the virtuosity contained in this work is expressed.

"Kintsugi" Circus Machine
  • In a bus shelter set apart from the world and time, strangers wait to be taken somewhere else. They don't know when they'll leave, or where they'll go... These motionless travelers rely on outside forces to lose themselves and, paradoxically, find something within themselves.
With "Kintsugi", named after the Japanese art of sublimating imperfections, Quebec company Machine de Cirque creates a moment of great humanity, imbued with vertiginous acrobatic prowess.

  • Wherever it performs, this company enchants audiences with the greatest pieces from the classical and contemporary repertoires. They are interpreted with the virtuosity that accompanies any performance by a dancer from the world's most prestigious company: the Paris Opera Ballet. And the second thing they have in common: they're all Italian! It's a gala evening on July 20.

And don't forget: Ludmila Pagliero (Argentina), prima ballerina with the Paris Opera Ballet, will be on stage that evening at the Théâtre Antique, alongside the Opera's Italians!

  • This choreographic and musical reworking of "Boxe Boxe" marks the shared desire of choreographer Mourad Merzouki and the Quatuor Debussy to pursue their collaboration through a brand-new repertoire, at the crossroads of the classical and hip-hop worlds. This new version heads for the Americas, and the "journey" takes place in the company of nine Brazilian dancers! Following on from "Folia" in 2022, this other Mourad Merzouki piece is set to be a triumph on July 24.
