This cathedral is the most eloquent monument of the medieval Christian city. In the 11th century, it was built on the site of early Christian edifices, then transformed in the the following century.
The Cathedral:
One of the cathedral's attractions is the presence of ancient remains that were reused during its construction, as evidenced by the Roman architectural blocks in the foundations of the chevet. Its sobriety and massive appearance, marked by few openings, its vaults, arches and sculpted decoration inspired by antiquity are all elements that reveal a fine example of Provençal Romanesque art.
