Domaine Richaud

Created in 1974, the Domaine was born of Marcel and Marie's shared passion for the terroir, as they settled on the family land in the Cairanne appellation.
Very quickly, a whole philosophy came to life, embodied in their bottles: it was no longer just a matter of "making wine", but of creating wines that would pay homage to the terroirs of the appellation, with as little alteration as possible.
With constant precision and exacting standards, each cuvée is an invitation to discover terroirs and grape varieties in their purest expression.
Quickly moving away from conventional agriculture, they turned to practices that were more respectful of the soil and the vines, following the criteria of organic farming and obtaining Ecocert certification for the entire vineyard in 2008.
This philosophy is also embodied in the cellar, where the juices are processed using natural methods: natural vinification, ultra-limited use of sulfur, elimination of all inputs, and so on.

Today, 80ha of vines are treated with the same care and respect: from AOC Cairanne white and red wines to vins de France and Côtes du Rhône, the same exacting standards are applied: manual harvesting, multiple sorting, and other practices that the whole team is keen to share with you.

A new cellar was built in 1998, in keeping with this link between land and wine. Here, no concrete, only stone is used to build this subterranean space covered with pebbles on the ground, where majestic ovoid foudres, muids and demi-muids sit, quietly resting wines for up to two years.

Above, the cellar has been built as a reception area in the image of the family estate.
On either side, a panoramic view invites contemplation, as do the walls adorned with dozens of paintings. The family has a particular interest in music and art, and each year illustrates its cuvée primeur with an original work of art.
