As part of the AlimenTERRE festival, a screening of the films "Manger pour vivre" (52 min.) and "Oranges amères" (30 min.) will be followed by a discussion led by volunteers from CCFD-Terre Solidaire and Pain & Liberté.
Eat to live
Director: Valérie Simonet - Running time: 52 minutes - Language: French
Manger pour vivre is a moving documentary. It presents a variety of testimonials from people involved in food aid and social food security (SSA). Without incriminating food aid volunteers and organizations, the film skilfully exposes the limits of the latter, in particular the logic of overproduction that it conceals. Manger pour vivre is a good introduction to the social security of food, and opens up a wide range of debates. The approach is very human and positive, representing both collective and individual action, as well as the sincerity of the protagonists. The film is an excellent teaching aid on the challenges of food aid and social food security, as well as on the right to food.
Oranges amères-Bitter oranges
Director: Elke Sasse - Running time: 30 minutes - Language: Original version with French subtitles
This is a very well produced documentary, with beautiful visuals, inviting us to reflect on the human price of our food. It deals specifically with the condition of migrants harvesting oranges in Italy.
