Opt for a self-guided tour and set out to discover this impressive stronghold. With the brochure provided at the entrance and the informational signs along the route, explore the ramparts, the keep, the barbican, and the granary. Discover the fortress’s history, its secrets, and its strategic role over the centuries, all while enjoying an exceptional panoramic view of the Rhône Valley. An ideal visit for history buffs, the curious, and anyone who wants to freely enjoy this place steeped in history. Plan Your Visit Opening Dates April 1 through November 1. Access to the fortress Access is exclusively on foot, via the Combe trail and then the André Caillet trail. Allow about 15 minutes of uphill walking to reach the fortress. Benches and tables are available along the way to take a break and enjoy the scenery. Practical Information A free water fountain is available on site. Restrooms are available on the Val Romigier esplanade. No beverages are sold at the fortress. Be sure to bring your own bottle of water, especially during the summer. Access to the fortress is on foot, via montée de la Combe and montée André Caillet. Estimated time: 30 minutes Tables and benches are available along the way. The Mornas fortress is not easily accessible for people with reduced mobility. The fortress has no water or toilet facilities. Toilets are available on the Val Romigier esplanade. The fortress does not sell drinks, so please bring your own water bottle.
