Honey

When one thinks of Provence, images of lavender fields, verdantolive groves and picturesque villages immediately spring to mind. However, at the heart of the Vaison Ventoux Provence region lies a sometimes forgotten but equally emblematic golden treasure: honey.

A sweet nectar A thousand flavors

Provence honey offers a palette of flavors as diverse as the landscapes that surround it. Among the most renowned varieties, lavender honey stands out for its delicate fragrance and creamy texture. Harvested from the lavender and lavandinfields that dot our region, this golden nectar instantly evokes the very essence of Provence.

But lavender honey is only one facet of our beekeeping heritage. Thyme honey, with its subtle herbaceous accents, rosemary honey, with its woody, aromatic notes, or wildflower and chestnut honey, are all unique palettes of flavor, reflecting the diversity of our terroir.

Used since ancient times for medicinal purposes, honey is renowned for its antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It is also an ideal ally for soothing sore throats and boosting the immune system.

What’s more, thanks to its natural sugar content, honey is a natural and healthy source of energy, ideal for filling up on vitality throughout the day. In fact, honey is the star ingredient in many typical Provencal products, such as nougat, both black and white, artisanal sweets and gingerbread.

DID YOU KNOW?

Each type of honey has its own specific virtues. However, all honey varieties offer health benefits. Indeed, this nectar abounds in beneficial properties for both body and mind.
