A postcard landscape!

From the very first days of summer, the lavender fields around Savoillans, a small village in the Toulourenc valley, are in full bloom, offering a breathtaking visual spectacle. Lavender generally blooms from mid-June to the end of July (this period varies according to the weather, a key factor for both flowering and harvesting).

The fields are then bathed in purplish hues: an ideal setting for rejuvenating walks and unforgettable photo shoots, where the violet hues of the lavender contrast beautifully with the blue sky and green of the surrounding hills, with the majestic Mont Ventoux as a backdrop.

Practical info
  • Flowering - Harvest
    • When is lavender in bloom?

Flowering depends on local weather conditions and varies according to altitude. Generally speaking, it starts in mid-June in the lower areas (Rhône Valley, Luberon, Valensole) and continues until the end of July in the higher areas (Plateau de Sault, Baronnies…).

You can follow the evolution of the flowering by viewing the webcam of the lavender fields near Sault by clicking HERE.

    • When is lavender harvested?

Harvesting depends on hygrometry. For this reason, there is no fixed date. Don’t hesitate to ask at the tourist office, which will be happy to provide you with any information its advisors may have.

  • Advice
    • Keep to the edges of the fields so as not to trample them: your photo will be all the more beautiful at the edge of the lavender field. Your hat and your beautiful smile are more than enough for these memories!
    • Don’t cut the lavender to preserve the beauty of the fields and biodiversity, and to allow the professionals to harvest the fruits of their labor.
  • Route des Lavandes

The lavender route invites you to explore the various fields from Valence to Valensole, passing through Vaison-la-Romaine and the Toulourenc valley, which takes you to Sault. Find the map to prepare your tour and enjoy lavender whether you love it a lot, passionately or madly!
