Located at the eastern end of the rock overlooking the valley, it was built in the 15th century at the request of the local inhabitants. It has been enlarged and modified many times over the years, and is now the venue for cultural events throughout the summer.
The eastern end of the rock overlooking the valley was a strategic point for guarding the bridge and access to the town. It was here
the church was built in the mid-15th century. It was then enlarged (nave and choir in the late 16th c.) and embellished until the late 18th c., when revolutionary looting impoverished the decor. Finally, in the 19th century, as the population moved to the valley, the liturgy was abandoned in favor of the old Romanesque cathedral.
