PROGRAM: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 - 6:30 p.m. Film screening and discussion: “Le Serment de Cyriaque” “Le Serment de Cyriaque” is a docudrama by Olivier Bourgeois focused on heritage preservation amid the war in Syria. The screening, in the original language with subtitles, will be followed by a discussion with experts. Free admission. Presented in partnership with Bouclier Bleu France. Location: Théâtre des 2 Mondes. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 - From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. “Archaeology in Practice” Workshop Step into the shoes of an archaeologist, conduct a real excavation yourself, and unearth artifacts with Caroline Lefebvre and Léa Dolcerocca (Arama/Inrap). Ages 6 and up. Meet in front of the Archaeological Museum. - From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. “Archéomaquette” Workshop Discover the stages of an archaeological excavation in a fun way—from site planning to the interpretation of scientific data—with Lucas Helfer-Lebert (Arama/Inrap) and Hélène Vergély (Inrap). Ages 6 and up. Meet at the Archaeological Museum. - From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Archaeologists Take the Stage: “The Archaeology of Buildings” The study of buildings reveals the evolution of lifestyles, construction techniques, and architectural styles. Discover the history of Vaison’s buildings with Pierre-Lou Schang (Arama). Open to all ages. Location: in front of Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth Cathedral. - 10:00 a.m. Guided tour: “The Gems of Vaison’s Romanesque Art” From Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth Cathedral to Saint-Quenin Chapel, discover the secrets of these buildings with their remarkable Romanesque architecture. Meet at the entrance to Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth Cathedral. - 10:00 a.m. Guided tour: The Villasse neighborhood Stroll through the streets of the Villasse neighborhood and discover its must-see landmarks, its residents, and their daily lives. Meet at the entrance to the Puymin site. - 2:00 PM Guided tour: “Architecture in the Spotlight—The Ancient Theater” Join archaeologist Caroline Lefebvre (Arama/Inrap) as you delve into the heart of the ancient theater of Vaison-la-Romaine and discover, through her research and anecdotes, the secrets of this exceptional monument. Meet at the entrance to the Puymin site. - 3:00 PM Guided tour: the Puymin site Discover this district of the ancient city, home to luxurious private residences, public monuments—including the theater—and artisan quarters. Meet at the entrance to the Puymin site. - 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 4:00 PM Guided tour: “The Count’s Castle Under Construction” Join Maxime Lemonnier from the Girard company to explore the restoration and safety-improvement project at the Vaison-la-Romaine castle, as well as the craftsmanship of its artisans. Reservations required only by calling 04 90 36 50 48. - 5:00 PM Musical tale: “Eros and Psyche” The L’Oiseau Lyre theater company presents a free adaptation of Apuleius’s “The Golden Ass.” A musical tale exploring the theme of love and the mythological figures of Eros and Psyche. Duration: 55 min. Suitable for all ages 9 and up. Meet at the entrance to the ancient site of Puymin, where you will be directed to the performance venue. - 6:30 p.m. Lecture: “The Archaeology of Built Heritage in Vaison” Lecture by Pierre-Lou Schang, an architectural archaeologist and member of the Vaison-based association Arama. Discover the lifestyles of its former inhabitants as you stroll through its narrow streets and past its mansions. Meet at the entrance to the Puymin site. - 3:00 PM Themed tour: “Archaeological Heritage in the Open Air: The Challenges of Conservation” How can we preserve the ruins of Puymin and La Villasse when they remain exposed to the elements and encroaching vegetation? During a walk with Jean-Marc Mignon, an archaeologist with the Vaucluse Department’s Archaeology Service and a DPLG-certified heritage architect, you’ll learn about the daily challenges involved in conserving and passing on this exceptional heritage. Meet at the entrance to the Puymin site. SPECIAL OPENINGS - Saint-Quenin Chapel on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Built in the Provençal Romanesque style, it is distinguished by its triangular apse. Dedicated to the town’s patron saint, it was constructed in the 12th century on the edge of an ancient Roman necropolis. Its decor evokes that of ancient buildings with its Corinthian capitals and columns. - The Hôtel-Dieu Chapel on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the event, enjoy exclusive access to the hospital chapel, which was relocated to the Pont neighborhood in the early 17th century.
