Not the plot, not the names of the two heroes, and not the famous dilemma. Our production was born out of a specific desire: to reconcile the audience—especially younger viewers—with this iconic work of classical theater without betraying its language or spirit. The heart of the production rests on a unique staging challenge: a single actor embodies all the characters alone—Rodrigue, Chimène, Don Diègue, Don Fernand, and the others. A crown, a book, a skirt, a fluttering tie… that’s all it takes for them to appear. A playful and poetic staging. The actor first acts as a guide, setting the scene to recontextualize the plot: where? when? who?... And then… the title sets the tone: this version of *Le Cid* wanders off course, allowing itself digressions, winks, and detours. The actor is sometimes the narrator, sometimes a spectator of his own performance, constantly shifting between roles, between sincere homage and parody.
