The Vaison-la-Romaine market dates back to 1483, when a bull issued by Pope Sixtus IV authorized Vaison to open a market. In 1532, Pope Clement VII confirmed this decision and specified the day: Tuesday. It’s always held on this day, rain or shine, and even when the Tour de France starts!
