Sophie is an epicurean. She was born in the heart of the vineyards, hence her love of wine and good things. If you're looking to discover Vaison Ventoux Provence and its little secrets, she's the one to turn to!

An appellation rich in differences

Terroir composition

One of the special features of this 100% red vineyard is that it extends over 5 communes, from west to east: Saint-Roman-de-Malegarde, Buisson, Villedieu, Vaison-la-Romaine and Saint-Marcellin-Lès-Vaison. In fact, these five villages are illustrated on the appellation logo by the five stamens in perfect harmony, also representing biodiversity!

The entire appellation is cultivated on hillsides at altitudes of between 240 and 380 metres. In terms of geology, the vines are planted mainly on Upper Miocene and Pliocene marl with pebbles, pebbles and pebbly conglomerates with colored marl and silt.

The vineyards are mainly planted with the four traditional Côtes du Rhône grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan.

A history stretching back thousands of years  in the heart of the vineyards...

Vaison-la-Romaine’s tradition of winegrowing dates back to antiquity. As early as Roman times, the hills were planted with vines and amphorae circulated along the Empire’s trade routes.

Recognized as a Côtes du Rhône Villages as early as 1966, the appellation gained in notoriety until 2016, when it was granted the right to proudly display the geographical designation “Vaison-la-Romaine” on its labels. This recognition honors the work of our winemakers and the uniqueness of our terroir.

Operation "Coup de Coeur

You’ve heard of the Sites Antiques, the Pont Romain, the Château Comtal, the Provencal market… but have you heard of the AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages Vaison-la-Romaine?

With this “Coup de Coeur” operation, the winegrowers are federating and involving restaurants, wine shops and B&Bs located in the AOC production zone.

The Syndicat Intercommunal des Vignerons de Vaison-la-Romaine, in collaboration with theOffice de tourisme intercommunal Vaison Ventoux Provence, has awarded the label to professionals offering AOC wines on their menus. At least one Côtes du Rhône Villages Vaison-la-Romaine and two Côtes du Rhône red, white or rosé.

It’s also a benchmark for you, and a guarantee that you’ll be tasting locally when you visit one of these partners.

Pleasure and Tradition

The famous Nuit de Bacchus in the gardens of the ancient site of La Villasse… An evening brought to you by the Jeunes Agriculteurs that’s both unusual and original, where the god of wine is honored with music, food and tasting of local produce!

And because wine is first and foremost a matter of sharing, the winemakers welcome you with passion, in a spirit of authenticity and conviviality.

A second flagship event is proposed with Vaison voit rouge! For one evening, the appellation is in the spotlight, in a warm and friendly atmosphere!

The event kicks off with a happy hour to (re)discover the appellation, with a tasting session hosted by the winemakers… Then it’s on to the brazier party, with live music! Bring your grills, salads and friends! Each year, in turn, a village in the Côtes du Rhône Villages Vaison-la-Romaine appellation takes center stage.
