To explore this authentic village, start by parking in the visitors’ car park at the bottom of the village and walk towards the medieval village, letting yourself be charmed by its pretty steep lanes.
As you continue on your way, you’ll pass the pretty covered washhouse, fed by the overflow from the fountain above. Continue your way to the church of Saint-Sauveur, partly troglodyte, which opens onto a picturesque square featuring a fountain with an octagonal basin dating from the 16th century.
Continue your ascent towards the castle, admiring the facades with Renaissance-style windows lining the alleyways. On the esplanade, the privately-owned medieval château stands majestically, restored by renowned French architect Roger Anger.
Don’t leave Crestet without taking in the magnificent panorama of les Dentelles de Montmirail and the mythical Mont Ventoux, which will take your breath away, from this highest point in the village.
For sports enthusiasts, take one of the hiking trails through the mountain and discover the sublime surrounding scenery.
