The Tour de France, a legendary sporting event, thrills cycling enthusiasts around the world every year. Although the route varies each year, Vaison Ventoux Provence has the honour of periodically hosting this legendary competition, offering cycling enthusiasts a unique experience in an exceptional setting.

Enthusiasm always on time!

In 2019, Vaison Ventoux Provence welcomed the Tour de France peloton with enthusiasm. The streets were filled with a sea of waving flags and beaming smiles as the riders tackled the picturesque roadsof our region.

In 2021, the riders tackled the steep slopes of the Géant de Provence. The epic climb was one of the highlights of the Tour de France.

The summer of 2025 marked the return of the Tour de France to the Vaucluse department with a summit finish on Mont Ventoux!

In2026, the ‘ Vaison Ventoux Provence ’ will once again shine on the international stage! Two exceptional days for all cycling enthusiasts, with the Etape du Tour de France Femmes with Zwift on Thursday 6 August and, on Friday 7 August, the Tour de France Femmes with Zwift peloton passing through Buisson, just before setting off for Mont Ventoux!

  • Distance: 111.70 km
  • Elevation gain: 2,950 m
  • Start: Vaison-la-Romaine, finishing at the summit of Mont Ventoux

With Roman ruins, hilltop villages, vineyards and majestic landscapes… this stage reveals the very soul of Vaison Ventoux Provence. From Vaison-la-Romaine, a mosaic of landscapes unfolds before cyclists (and spectators) across the Baronnies Provençales, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Propiac, Suzette and Madeleine passes. Then comes the giant of Provence… Mont Ventoux, majestic and indomitable, a stage for emotion and pushing one’s limits. A legendary route and a unique atmosphere, all united by the same passion: the joy of cycling!

  • Further info: The race takes place on roads closed to traffic, and from Tuesday 4 to Wednesday 5 August there will be two days of festivities in Vaison-la-Romaine.

The Tour de France Women #2026

The Tour de France Femmes #2026 will set off from Switzerland on 1 August, finishing in Nice on the Promenade des Anglais on 9 August.

9 stages with a total of 1175km where the puncheuses, sprinters, rollers and climbers will have a field day!

Step 7: La Voulte-sur-Rhône > Mont Ventoux

  • Date: 7 August 2026
  • Distance: 144 km

A stage starting in the Ardèche, passing through the Drôme and arriving in the Vaucluse via the village of Buisson and heading towards the Géant de Provence on its southern side, near Bédoin.

Climbing Mont Ventoux

. Length: 15.7 km

. Average gradient: 8.8

The climb is renowned for its difficulty. The first few kilometres are demanding, with gradients approaching 10%. After Chalet Reynard, the landscape changes… the forest gives way to a breathtaking landscape where the viewpoints offer spectacular panoramas.

How to find us :

The roads leading to Mont Ventoux will probably be closed to motor traffic several hours before the runners pass. It is advisable to consider alternative means of transport, such as cycling or walking. Note that the areas around Chalet Reynard and the summit of Mont Ventoux are very busy.

Environment :

An emblematic and fragile natural site in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional, Mont Ventoux and all the stages must be preserved. To preserve the unique biodiversity of the Géant de Provence, it is vital that spectators behave responsibly by respecting the areas and leaving the site clean.
