Somewhere between abstraction and figuration, Lieske Sophia Smid's large-scale painted collages are windows onto the imaginary. Trees and nature guide an essential quest: how, as adults, can we re-inhabit the world of fairy tales? In his paintings, men, monsters and witches come to life to tell stories full of sap.
Today, these tales take up residence in the Chapelle des Arts. The artist fell in love with this suspended place, still steeped in dust and silence. It's the perfect setting to let the colors of her works vibrate and, together, awaken stories from another time.
