Camille Claudel's struggle to exist as a sculptor despite social convention. Her "marble children" were born of her great sensitivity. A great piece of theater about a free, rebellious artist.
"Based on the novel by Laurence Creton
Performed by Claudine Danne
Cie Ka-Théâtre".
At the end of the 19th century, Camille, born of the icy bed of social and family conventions, is a sculptor who, because she is a woman, struggles to exist. The fight for gender equality, into which Camille threw herself body and soul at the time, is still relevant today. From her "indomitable" character, her iron will and her great sensitivity to nature and poetry, her "marble children" were born. Despite her frailties, fears and angers, she was a whole woman who, in expressing her femininity, her ideas and her artistic talent ahead of her time, knew what she wanted. While suffering and frustration may have driven her to a form of madness, responsible for excessive internment, she also knew how to live lucidly and intensely, giving without counting the cost. Even Rodin said: "I showed her where to find the gold, but the gold she finds is hers.
